Islington patients managing long-term conditions give feedback on their annual health checks and patterns of physical activity
We asked over 500 residents with long-term health conditions what they wanted from their yearly check-ups and how their health affected their physical activity patterns.

Feedback on annual health checks showed patients were most concerned with making sure their conditions hadn’t deteriorated and that their medication and treatment plans were still appropriate.

Suggested improvements included a greater emphasis on prevention and more practical advice about living with the condition(s).

Respondents were often unsure of the appropriateness of different types of physical activity and wanted more direction from health professionals.

Physical health concerns were identified by 274 respondents as the main barrier to becoming more active, followed by low motivation (158)

There is a need for more effective information provision on managing long-term conditions and safely increasing levels of exercise.
