We're honoured to be commended for Volunteering Team of the Year! Our team of Digital Champions are passionate about supporting residents who feel left behind in digital skills. Thank you, Voluntary Action Islington, for this award.

Gulum Sener, Healthwatch Islington

Our Digital Champions Team received a commendation in the category Volunteering Team of the Year at an awards ceremony hosted by Voluntary Action Islington earlier this month.

Between January and October, we helped 128 residents gain skills and confidence in using their phones, tablets, and laptops to get online. We provided 208 sessions of support, both in person and remotely over Zoom.

We have eight volunteers in the team - a diverse and dynamic group with a wide range of ages, experiences, and backgrounds - all with a passion for sharing their skills.

Making their commendation, Voluntary Action Islington praised the work of our volunteers:

"The Volunteer Digital Champions team at Healthwatch deliver personalised digital support across Islington in multiple languages, supporting residents to gain skills and confidence around their digital device and accessing the internet to make their daily life easier. Each volunteer brings a high level of commitment, resilience, expertise, and empathy to their work, ensuring that learners feel motivated and self-assured."
